Novada Cement, part of the Medcem Cement Group, has selected ABB to deliver full plant electrification, automation and drives solutions for its new plant in Tampa Bay, Fla.
ABB will design, supply and commission the solutions and provide integrated engineering, project management and support. With ABB Ability System 800xA distributed control system (DCS) as the integration platform, operators will gain deeper insights and understanding of plant status and be enabled to take more effective measures to maximize plant production.

The Tampa Bay plant is expected to produce more than 600,000 tons of cement annually when it reaches full production and becomes a supplier to the regional construction industry. It marks the first investment in the United States by Novada, which, together with the wider Medcem Group, has large-scale production in Türkiye as well as plants in Cameroon and Tunisia.

ABB has a long-standing relationship with Medcem Group, which previously selected ABB as a technology supplier for their global digitalization efforts at its cement production facilities in Türkiye.
